Robert Kendrick: Rafal Nadal

It worked beautifully for three sets, as the Spaniard failed to break him and Kendrick came up with big, varied serves and the occasional diving volley. But Nadal took complete command of the third-set tiebreaker after hitting a gorgeous forehand passing shot crosscourt for a winner at 4-1.

Kendrick may have a low ranking, but he took Nadal to five sets in this years Wimbledon. You can expect to see Murray & Kendrick out on court some time after 7pm (GMT)

There was a yawning gap between Nadal and the 26-year-old Californian, but the match was played on grass, which suits Kendrick's powerful service game. For Nadal, grass remains a strangely foreign surface. And then there was Kendrick's newfound groove; he had won all 10 sets he played here, including qualifying.

For quite a while Thursday, it appeared that Agassi could be facing Kendrick instead of Nadal. A barrel- chested Californian from Fresno, Kendrick came into the match with a ranking of 237: the sort of unimpressive number usually reserved for British wild card entries. But he played at a much higher level before Nadal finally finished off his comeback and won 6-7 (4-7), 3-6, 7-6 (2), 7-5, 6-4.

Murray steps up a gear and leaves Kendrick behind. The Scot quickly moves 15-40 up and then moves his man around before punching a forehand into the gap he has created. Murray then does his best Rafael Nadal impresion with a punch and a skip on his way to the chair.
