Ex-Baretta actor Robert Blake, 68, pleaded not guilty Monday to charges that he murdered his wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, in May 2001. Blake, who was arrested last Thursday, faces four counts stemming from his wife’s slaying. During the arraignment, which lasted approximately 10 minutes, he remained silent only saying "not guilty, your honor." Blake’s bodyguard, Earl Caldwell, entered a not guilty plea to the charge of "conspiracy to commit murder." Blake and Caldwell will remain in jail until the next court date set for May 1. Caldwell’s bail is $1 million and Blake’s bail will be set at the next court date.

Though actor Robert Blake will attend Friday's funeral of slain wife Bonny Lee Bakley, members of her immediate family will not. Blake, 67, invited the New Jersey-based Bakley family to attend the funeral in the Hollywood Hills, Reuters reports, but the family members declined, still suspicious of Blake's involvement in her shooting. "I can't fathom it," said Blake's lawyer, Harland Braun. "[Blake] even offered to pay their way out if money was an issue, but they've decided not to come." Bakley's sister's lawyer, Cary Goldstein, had no comment.

Due to intrusive reporters, the family of Bonny Lee Bakley, the murdered wife of actor Robert Blake, has cancelled her scheduled funeral in New Jersey. They are searching for a secret location in California for the burial. In a joint statement, Blake and family members decided to bury Bakley in secret after several reporters and photographers camped out Wednesday night at a Los Angeles mortuary trying to photograph Bakley's body and at the funeral home in New Jersey. "While we understand the media interest, and we understand that the media is only 'doing its job,' we respectfully request that the media desist from its efforts to intrude upon the grief of Mr. Blake, Leebonny's family and their friends, and allow Leebonny's remains to be finally put to rest," the statement said.
