Robert turned professional in 1991 and determined to help kids in similar situations he decided to use his name and celebrity status to start a fundraising golf day. A friend suggested Challenge, and Robert's ambition became a reality.

William Robert Allenby studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, winning prestigious scholarships and awards at both establishments. More recently he studied with Michelle Wegwart and with the (recently-deceased) American baritone, Theodor Uppman, in New York.

Robert Allenby is a master of golf in Melbourne. He grew up playing just down the road from Huntingdale at Yarra Yarra but the influence of the great designer Alister MacKenzie was such that if you learned one sandbelt course you learnt the shots you needed at all of them.

Craig Parry follows up Allenby as next best for the Australasians following a -6 (65), his best round of what has been an ordinary season for Parry. He moved from 48th into a nine-way tie at 8th to close the day at -5. Kiwi Craig Perks is another stroke back at -4 and in equal 17th, while fellow countryman Michael Campbell posted a 69 to finish at -2 (T22).

For 14 years, Robert has devoted much of his spare time to Challenge. His dedication has earned him the respect of his co-workers, the deep gratitude of parents and most importantly for him, the love of many kids whose lives he has touched.
