Robert Allenby: Pga Tour
built 634 days ago
RobertAllenby Allenby is having a very good start to the year, with a T-7 at the Northern Trust Open a couple of weeks ago being his best result. He has two Top-5 results in the last four years at the Honda Classic, including a T-5 at the PGA National course last year.
The past few weeks have been mighty kind to Robert Allenby. He played the best golf of his life and won the Australian Triple - the Masters, Open and PGA. It’s never been done before. Don’t scoff too loudly at a “lesser event” as the fields were dotted with world class players such as Adam Scott, Stuart Appleby and Peter Lonard. Impressive.

Every one of Allenby's Tour titles so far have come via a play-off. Last year he won both the Houston Open and the Western Open with play-off victories over Craig Stadler and Nick Price respectively. World number one Tiger Woods continued his mediocre season by finishing three strokes behind Allenby and the other leaders at five under.

Robert Allenby Robert managed to win at least once in each year until 1996 when he confirmed his emergence as one of theleading players in the World with three victories on the European Tour to finish 3rd on the Order of Merit. However, serious injuries resulting from a a car crash in Spain slowed his progress at the end of 1996 and the start of 1997.

Allenby has won more than 20 titles worldwide, including a sweep of the Australian Triple Crown in 2005. But the last of his four PGA Tour titles came in 2001, and he'd like to end that drought.
Allenby's card included seven birdies and two bogeys. It took him a remarkable 24 putts to get around the windy course at Doral. He has already five top-10s on tour this year, but hasn't won on the PGA Tour since the 2001 Marconi Pennsylvania Classic.
