Robbie Buhl: Indy Lights
built 276 days ago
Indy Pro Series television commentator Robbie Buhl knows the frustration of the drivers who have watched the rear wing of Lloyd's No. 7 Lucas Oil/Isilon Systems/Sam Schmidt Motorsports car disappear ahead of them. Buhl was in a similar situation 12 years ago when Greg Moore won the first five Indy Lights races.

Buhl began racing Formula Fords in England in 1984 and drove in the Sports Renault and Formula 2000 series in 1985-86. He won the Barber Saab Pro Series title in 1989, setting records for wins (7) and poles (6). He finished fourth in the American Racing Series in 1990 and won the Indy Lights series championship in 1992.

Handling problems forced Buhl to the garage after 38 laps of the Indy Japan 300. He started on the outside of Row 10. A detached endplate was the culprit as Buhl’s car made contact with the Turn 4 wall on Lap 181 in the Copper World Indy 200 at Phoenix. He started 20th. In the Toyota Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, he started 11th and finished 10th.
