1. Sam Peckinpah -- Pat Garrett
   Sam Peckinpah's violent, mystical Western saga focuses on the pursuit of outlaw Billy the Kid (Kris Kristofferson) by lawman Pat Garrett (James Coburn). With Jason Robards, Rita Coolidge and Bob Dylan (who ... wrote the music). 4 hrs. total. 2. Bond (Musical Act) -- John Barry
   Speaking of Madonna, she's just the latest in a long line of Bond singers. Matt Munro, a Sinatra-soundalike, sang From Russia with Love. Shirley Bassey nailed Goldfinger. Other artists who lent their voices to 007 are Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Paul McCartney and Wings, Lulu, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Rita Coolidge, Duran Duran, a-Ha, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow and Garbage. In 1969, Louis Armstrong sang "We Have All the Time in the World," a song used in the body of the film On Her Majesty's Secret Service. (The film didn't have a title song, just a sterling John Barry instrumental.) Poetically, it was Armstrong's final recording, shortly before his death.
3. Joe Cocker -- Leon Russell
   The Joe Cocker flash and whimsy couldn't be better than on this two-LP set. And he gets real heavyweight support, as he belts out in his grimacing style, from his 36 "mad dogs and Englishmen," with it a group of talented musicians and chorus. Songs include those composed by Cohen, Redding, Lennon-McCartney, and Leon Russell.
4. Boz Scaggs -- Silk Degrees
   Boz Scaggs is a unique and marvellous singer. His soulful voice can be, in turn, silky-smooth and sensual or funky and upbeat, depending on the material, but it is always compelling. This voice comes through superbly on the ten great tunes featured on "Silk Degrees".
5. Alcatraz Island -- Rock Doc
   Alcatraz Island: Memoirs of a Rock Doc was published in 2001 by Pelican Island Publishing. The second printing - in 2003 - contains 258 pages, 18 original photographs, and 3 prisoner poems. The sticker price is $19.95 or $14.95 if purchased directly from the publisher.
6. Glen Campbell -- Capitol Records
   The Country Music Association has announced that groundbreaking musical group Alabama, legendary singer/musician/television host Glen Campbell and pioneering Grand Ole Opry star DeFord Bailey will become the newest members of the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame. Formal induction for the artists will take place during "The 39th Annual CMA Awards," which will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network, Tuesday, Nov. 15 (8:00-11:00 PM/EST) from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Bailey will be inducted in the "Career Achieved National Prominence Prior to World War II" category, which is awarded every third year in a rotation with the "Recording and/or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980" and "Non- Performer" categories. Campbell will be inducted in the "Career Achieved National Prominence Between World War II and 1975" category; and Alabama will be the first artist inducted in the new "Career Achieved National Prominence Between 1975 and the Present" category created earlier this year. All inductees are chosen by CMA's Hall of Fame panel of electors, consisting of more than 300 anonymous voters appointed by the CMA Board of Directors. Alabama, Campbell and Bailey will increase the Hall of Fame membership from 92 to 95.
7. Valerie Harper -- Los Angeles
   Throughout her career, Valerie has continued to work in the theatre. She performed with various companies of Second City and Story Theatre in many venues all over the country and in Canada. In 1970 she was a member of the original stage production of "Story Theater" in Los Angeles at the Mark Taper Forum and opened with the show in New York when it moved to Broadway. During the run at the Ambassador Theater, Paul Sills opened his second production: "Ovid's Metamorphoses" (... to rave reviews) to run in repertory with Story Theater. Most happily, Valerie was a part of this joyous theatrical experience as well. In the mid-seventies, she played Los Angeles' James Doolittle Theatre and later toured in "Dear Liar" with Anthony Zerbe (a play comprised of a lifetime of letters between George Bernard Shaw and the actress Mrs. Patrick Campbell.)
8. Kris Kristofferson -- West Point
   In the spring of 1970, Kris Kristofferson played at the Bitter End in Greenwich Village, and Bobby Neuwirth had liked his act so much that he brought his friends to see him. Bobby offered to introduce Kris to Janis, suggesting that they hop on a plane immediately and fly to the West Coast. When Neuwirth called Janis she was ready to party and when he told her he had a buddy with him, she told him to bring him along. When they arrived at the party in Larkspur, Kris caught Janis' eye right away. "She thought he was a honey," Sunshine said. He was thirty-four years old and like her, a Texan.
9. Native American

A wide range of singers and groups have performed the title songs: Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Sir Paul McCartney, Lulu, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Rita Coolidge, Duran Duran, a-ha, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Garbage, and Madonna (while others, such as Louis Armstrong, The Pretenders, Tim Feehan, k.d. lang and Scott Walker, have performed non-title songs).
