LYCOS RETRIEVER
Ringo: John Ringo
built 814 days ago
Ringo is the one member of the band to stay very close to each of the others. When John Lennon was shot in 1980, he was the only one to rush to the Dakota to be by Yokos side. He has continued his close relationship with Paul, by drumming on many of his songs since the Beatle days, and had visited with George regularly. Ringo has a home in Los Angeles and an apartment in Monte Carlo, where the tax laws are very lenient toward wealthy individuals.

Except for a visit to his family in California, Ringo appears to have remained in Arizona during most of 1880. On March 8, 1881, he was present at Camp Thomas, Arizona, when cattle rustler Dick Lloyd was killed. Contrary to folklore, he took no part in the shooting. After the so-called OK Corral gunfight in Tombstone, in which William Clanton and the McLaury brothers were killed on October 26, 1881, Ringo was a leader of the anti-Earp forces. On January 17, 1882, he challenged Wyatt Earp, gunman John H. (Doc) Holliday, and other members of the Earp gang to a street fight. He was ... a member of the posse that pursued the gang during its flight from Arizona.

Where Ringo went first is not know but it is likely that he headed to Missouri or Indiana to see relatives. However, by 1874 he was in Burnet, Texas. On December 25, 1874, John Ringo was seen shooting his pistol in a public square. Charges were filed against him and in April 1875, the first known criminal indictment against John Ringo was filed:

John Ringo and Ike Clanton filed a land location notice in Grant County, New Mexico. The notice was for 320 acres of grazing and farming land in Animas Valley, about 28 miles north of Guadalupe Canyon. The notice stated that the 320 acres would be called "Alfalfa or Cienega Ranch. Later this ranch was called San Simon Cienega and is often referred to as Joe Hills Ranch.

'Abstract Face' aptly describes what Ringo creates. Almost everything is a depiction of a face, close-up, perhaps with a hat or some other adornment but not always. His work is lighthearted and whimsical, much like the artist himself. He is the third Beatle to take up art. John studied art before becoming a Beatle and his many drawings have been published and exhibited. Paul is a painter.
