Like RICS, Rightmove singled out the introduction of HIPs as a major contributory factor. The drastic fall of 41% in new instructions for detached houses illustrates the impact of HIPs. The requirement to provide a HIP for the sale of houses with 4 or more bedrooms became law last month. The HIP regulations were extended today to cover 3 bedroom houses as well.

Rightmove said the early onset of the winter sales slump had forced homeowners to drop their asking prices. Their figures are in line with the other major indices from Halifax and the Nationwide which have shown a gradual slowdown in the housing market. Rightmove said it expected there to be further falls during December and the early part of next year, before a more stable financial environment and underlying demand led to some minor price gains later in the year.

Have you thought about taking a leaf from Rightmove.co.uk to advertising your own home.. create a website..print a notice linking to the website..there you have it no fees no commision and no time wasters as you can talk to them first.. If this is too technical (ie you have no web experience) how about a free add(1month only) or for just £2.50 3 months on a website like www.work4cash.co.uk.. Then simply print off a house for sale notice put it on some ply board and stick it outside your home.. You write your own bumf (see the stuff thats out there already for ideas). UK housing prices fell 3.2 percent in December compared to November in data released today by Rightmove.co.uk. Rightmove.co.uk is a real estate website that lists 90 percent of the homes for sale in the UK.
