Is it really any surprise that Rightmove are lagging behind so far in embracing the new technology that others are bringing to the property search space? Just look on their site at their list of directors. Not one of them comes from a web/technology background, they are all old-world types. Rightmove will be gone within the next 5 years IMO.

Rightmove is the largest UK real-estate portal, listing 800,000 properties for sale and rent throughout England, Scotland and Wales. It features 8 of the 10 largest estate agency groups in the UK. Founded in 2000 by three of UK’s biggest estate agents - Connells, Countrywide, Halifax, Rightmove has better coverage in the regions than in London. Unfortunately it does not allow for-sale-by-owner listings, unlike many other sites.

Rightmove ... expects revenues of about GBP 56.7 million for the year 2007. The company said it continued strong sales growth during the year, with around 90% of all British estate agents and all 20 of the largest new homes developers subscribing to list their properties on the Rightmove website. Advertisers' retention rate was 92%, compared to 93% last year.
