Rick Dees currently resides in Los Angeles, with his wife Julie, who is an accomplished commedienne with numerous credits, including being the voice of several Smurfs, and voice of Casper The Friendly Ghost. Julie’s stand-up comedy has thrilled audiences around the world, and she plies these skills as a regular on Rick’s radio shows. Julie and Rick have a son, Kevin, who is President of Creative Development for Dees Entertainment, Inc., and a radio and TV host himself.

Rick Dees was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. Dees began his career on a dare. A fellow student challenged him to audition for a local radio program. He did, got the job and has been on the air ever since. His ingrained sense of the absurd and fervent love of comedy have rocketed him to the top of the ratings in every city in which he's worked.

WASHINGTON, DC - Rick Dees, legendary radio personality who recently joined Emmis-owned Movin' 93.9 in Los Angeles, will be inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame during the NAB2007 Radio Luncheon sponsored by ASCAP. The luncheon will be held on Tuesday, April 17, in Las Vegas.

Rick was born March 14, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida, but was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. He began his radio career in 1966 at WGBG, a Greensboro radio station. Rick graduated from Greensboro Grimsley High School in 1968 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972. He was a member of the Tau chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha while attending college. Dees is married to the former Julie McWhirter, a voice actress. They have a son, Kevin Dees, who is following directly in his father's steps as a DJ.
