Richard Todd Richard Todd was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1919. His father was a medic in the British Army and, as his current posting required, the early years of his life were spent in India. The theatre... was his first love, and he furthered his dramatic skills at the Italia Conti school, later moving to Dundee, in Scotland, where he helped form the Dundee Repertory Theatre. The Second World War temporarily prevented Todd from advancing his career, and in 1941 he became a commissioned officer. In 1943, he applied to become a parachutist, and in May of that year he was posted to the 7th Parachute Battalion.
