Richard Todd (born June 11, 1919) is a British actor. Born Richard Andrew Palethorpe-Todd in Dublin, the son of an English officer, he grew up in Devon and began acting in regional theaters in the 1930s. He served as a paratrooper during World War II, and gained fame in the London stage version of The Hasty Heart, which took him to Broadway then Hollywood. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the role in 1949.

Richard Todd (born November 19, 1953 in Birmingham, Alabama) is a former professional American football quarterback for the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints from 1976 to 1985. Todd, along with former Jets quarterback Joe Namath, played for the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide under legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.

As a jazz artist he has appeared in concerts and recordings with such artists as Clark Terry, Ray Brown, Woody Herman, Lalo Shifrin, McCoy Tyner and Andre Previn. From All Movie Guide: Born in Ireland, Richard Todd spent a few of his childhood years in India, where his father served as an army physician. Later his family relocated to West Devon, England. Todd trained for a potential military career at Sandhurst before inaugurating his acting training at the Italia Conta school. He helped organize the Dundee Repertory Theatre, then spent six years' service in World War II, first as an officer in the Yorkshire Light Infantry, then as a paratrooper with the 6th Airbourne. Todd was among those who parachuted into France during the D-Day Invasion of 1944; eighteen years later, he played a cameo in Darryl F. Zanuck's D-Day recreation The Longest Day (1946). After the war, he rejoined the Dundee rep, then made his West End debut as The Scot, the ill-tempered, dying protagonist of John Patrick's play The Hasty Heart.
