During the period where Ric Flair was world champion he would form an elite group called the Four Horsemen. This was a group which was considered as one of best fractions in the history of wrestling and was the influence that helped create other fractions later in wrestling like the New World Order and DX. The first members of this group were Ric Flair, Ole Anderson, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. This would be a heel group that would make history. This was a group led by Ric Flair which would cause havoc in the NWA and would break so many rules. The Four Horsemen would come and go over a number of years and had many members join them like, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Barry Windham, Lex Luger and Sting.
Richard Morgan Fliehr[2] (born on February 25, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota[2]) better known by his ring name Ric Flair, is a legendary American professional wrestler of iconic staus signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on its SmackDown! brand. Also known as "The Nature Boy," Flair is considered by some to be the greatest all-around pro wrestler of all time, as he combined superlative ring skills with unparalleled showmanship while crafting the model for the ideal champion in the modern era. Flair is recognized by WWE as a 16-time world champion, although his actual tally of world championship reigns varies by source. In World Championship Wrestling (WCW), he ... had two stints as a booker—from 1989-1990 and again in 1994.[3]

If the year 1989 will be remembered for anything by wrestling fans, it has to be the series of matches Ric Flair had with Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. Steamboat had returned to the NWA after some time with the WWF, where he was able to capture the WWF Intercontinental Championship from Randy Savage. Steamboat and Flair entered a feud, seemly due to their class of lifestyles clashing, Flair the flamboyant Playboy and Steamboat, the traditional family man, there life styles may have clashed, but the quality of their wrestling ability was second to none. In the first encounter, Flair was defeated by Ricky Steamboat at the Chi-Town Rumble event, in Chicago. In the second match, at the Clash of the Champions VI event, Ricky Steamboat defeated Flair in the 2 out 3 falls match... Flair’s foot was apparently on the rope during the final fall, so another rematch was in order. The final match came at WrestleWar 1989, in which Flair was finally able to recapture his championship belt, in another astonishing match.
On April 17, 1994, Ric Flair and Rick Steamboat had a double pin finish. On April 21, 1994, (aired on TV May 21, 1994) Flair defeated Steamboat to end the dispute. It was never officially announced that the belt was held up, although Flair gave the belt to WCW commissioner Nick Bockwinkel and said he wanted it held up. There are ... stories that Ric Flair did title switches with Jack Venano in the Dominican Republic and Victor Jovica in the Caribbean. Both stories have been confirmed by fans in attendance but haven't been recognized in the U.S as of yet.

After taking some time off he came back and the storyline was set out where if Ric Flair was to lose he would retire. This is the start for his career to end as it is time for him to call it a day. Since this storyline has started he has faced Randy Orton, Triple H, Umaga, MVP, William Regal and Mr Kennedy all in retirement matches but he has won them all. Ric is scheduled to lose at Wrestlemania and has been inducted into the 2008 hall of fame which is a land mark in his career. The rumour going around at the moment is that he will face HBK at Wrestlemania 24 and that he will lose the match and retires at 59.
