Rey Mysterio hitting the 619 on Eddie Guerrero Oscar Gutierrez[2][1] (born December 11, 1974) better known by his ring name Rey Mysterio, is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling on its SmackDown brand. Despite competing as a cruiserweight for most of his career, he is a former World Heavyweight Champion, as well as a record-setting eight-time Cruiserweight Champion.
On the first edition of Friday Night SmackDown!, Rey Mysterio had his second loss (the first being a WWE Championship match on the SmackDown! after WrestleMania XX) to Eddie Guerrero in a steel cage match, after first missing a crossbody from the top of the cage, and then being hit with Guerrero's Frog Splash.
Rey Mysterio and the late, great Eddie Guerrero went on to successfully capture the WWE Tag Team Championship by defeating the Bashams at No Way Out. The duo defended their Championship successfully through the months leading up to WrestleMania 21. Rey and Eddie split up for one night only at WrestleMania, as they competed against each other in singles action in what was the first ever match-up of Tag Team Champions. Rey won a hard fought contest in which both competitors pulled out all the stops. The following months exposed the rift between the tag team partners. Rey and Eddie lost their WWE Tag Team Championship to MNM in April 2005.

On the April 7, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, Rey Mysterio - who was billed as being an "underdog champion" - made his first World Heavyweight title defense against Randy Orton. Mysterio went on to retain his title again during a WrestleMania rematch on SmackDown! against Kurt Angle, three weeks later. The week before the title defense took place saw the start of a feud between the then-United States Champion John Bradshaw Layfield and Mysterio. The rivalry kicked off after JBL stated he deserved the World Heavyweight title during his celebration of becoming the U.S. Champion.
- Rey Mysterio has been chosen as the newest WWE Fathead through the Cyber Sunday contest. Fans got to pick between Rey, CM Punk, Jeff Hardy or The Boogeyman. WWE says the Fathead will be released soon.
