Restless Leg Syndrome: People
built 615 days ago
Restless leg syndrome... known as RLS or Ekbom Syndrome, is a disorder characterized by unpleasant sensations accompanying an uncontrollable urge to move the lower legs. It usually happens at rest or before sleep. The unpleasant sensations are usually in the form of pain although people who suffer from it might describe the feelings and sensations in different ways.

The reason is that in some people the gluten does not break down completely after digestion into something the body can use. It is not the organism that is at fault but the substance that is indigestible (the substance that may trigger restless leg syndrome may vary from person to person). Even though the particle size is minute it still remains only partially digested - something that is out of place in the blood stream in this form. (When something is cleanly and fully digested it first becomes blood and then flesh and is therefore untraceable. This is called assimilation - a concept not accepted by modern science as being plausible.
Restless leg syndrome More recently studies have shown that restless leg syndrome may be associated with low levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Because people with kidney disease are at risk for bone disease, their doctors will monitor their PTH level to make sure it isn’t too high. In patients suffering from RLS a common trait was that they had low PTH levels. Another common factor in those who reported having RLS was the number of neurologic and psychiatric drugs that were administered. Although it is difficult to know if either these drugs or low PTH cause RLS, these findings are reasons for doctors to avoid over suppression of PTH and to carefully consider the prescribing of neuropsychiatric medicines.

Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a relatively common neurological condition in which people suffer from unpleasant sensations in the legs and an overwhelming urge to move them in order to relieve these sensations. [1] This condition is characterized by the involuntary jerking of the legs during times of inactivity and become more intense in the evening and night, especially at the onset of sleep.
[H]ow did the media cover restless leg syndrome after Glaxo's marketing blitz? Woloshin and Schwartz identified 33 newspaper articles on the syndrome, and found that 97 percent "uncritically accepted" the definition of the disease. None warned of the dangers of over-diagnosis, the authors added, "the idea that some people will be diagnosed unnecessarily and take medication they do not really need."

No one knows exactly why restless leg syndrome occurs. People who suffer from restless leg syndrome have uncontrollable urges to move their legs. A feeling of discomfort in the leg prompts the need for movement. For some people, these sensations may be the result of nerve damage. The sensations may ... be caused by decreased blood flow through some vessels in the legs.
