An LCD game based on Resident Evil 2 was ... released for the short-lived game.com in late 1998. Two versions of the game.com game were scheduled to be released, one starring Leon and the other with Claire, but only the former saw release. An aborted port for the Sega Saturn was also planned that utilized the 4MB RAM included with X-Men vs. Street Fighter.

If ... you've never liked Resident Evil, this re-release is hardly going to change your mind. Of course, Code Veronica may well do so, but we reckon $50 is a little too pricey for an hour of sheer enjoyment [Ed's note: "We" do not reckon anything. Matt is obviously not a gamer.]. At the end of the day, what you're getting here is a lot of game, but if it's not your cup of tea, you'd be best to wait. Speaking on behalf of myself though, it should be clear to you by now that I've loved every minute of it. Afterall, it includes a taster of what could save the Dreamcast in Japan, which makes this package something very special indeed.

It doesn't help that File #2 may be the most difficult Resident Evil game to date. Outbreak wasn't exactly a cakewalk, but it, at least, subscribed to the same logical patterns as the original PSOne games.

According to this source (as first reported on RE Fan), online support for Resident Evil: Outbreak will be cut on December 31, 2007. The single player game will obviously be unaffected, but online play will no longer be available.
