According to the original Resident Evil instruction manual, Barry is very much a 'family man', and in one scenario, he presents Jill with a photograph of himself with his wife and children. He has experienced family troubles at home, which explains the stress he often exhibits throughout Jill's mission. He ... utters some of the game's most infamous dialog; he claims that Jill is the "master of unlocking," and when Jill is almost flattened by a descending ceiling from which Barry helps her escape, he claims that Jill was almost a "Jill sandwich." The quote "Jill sandwich" was also used in Capcoms 2006 game Dead Rising

The original PlayStation version of Resident Evil featured several considerable changes between its original Japanese release and its English-language counterparts. The original unedited version of the intro was in color and available for a very short time in North America and Japan, but was forced to be removed due to graphic gory violence. The later Japanese and North American version of the intro was set in black and white and was heavily cut. Many of the more violent scenes (such as images of half-eaten corpses, and Joseph being brutally mauled by the Cerberuses) from the live-action FMV were removed, as were scenes featuring Chris Redfield smoking a cigarette. These were done so to comply with SCEA's censorship standards. The original Japanese PlayStation version ... featured two vocal themes performed by J-Pop artist Fumitaka Fuchigami that were not in any other versions of the game.

Part of Resident Evil 4’s charm comes in recognising the various sources that have inspired Mikami throughout the development cycle. The initial stages of the game owe much to Tobe Hooper’s horror classic "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," with the run-down houses and crazed psychotic villagers.

At the time of this writing, Resident Evil - a super-slick, realistically mapped, and ultra-violent Alone in the Dark - is at the top of the heap in cinematic 3-D adventure games. It's one of the best buys for the Playstation, and one of those rare games that's almost as entertaining to watch as it is to play.

RESIDENT EVIL 2 starts off with a fabulous prelude—full motion video animation, complete with the classic "voice acting" from the first game. After viewing the mini B-horror movie, the player controls either Leon or Claire and makes sure they don't die. This with the help of several weapons: 9mm pistol, shotgun, or grenade launcher. This is the whole goal of the game; maneuver Leon or Claire and blast away zombies, giant spiders, and demon dogs in the process.
