Representative Dennis Kucinich: Democratic Presidential
built 199 days ago
On this weekend's "Meet the Press" presidential wannabe Representative Dennis Kucinich, (D-0hio) again made his outrageous claim that the Bush policy in Iraq is based on oil. It was gratifying to see Richard Perle from the American Enterprise Institute and Chairman of the Defense Policy Board take him to task on this. Here is an excerpt from the transcript:

Representative Dennis Kucinich made a campaign stop for autism on November 20. The presidential candidate, a democrat from Ohio, was the third politician to take up New Hampshire hair stylist David Holden on his challenge to get a $400 haircut with all proceeds going to ASA.
At a press conference on 3-28-03, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) became the first Presidential candidate to call for an end to the Iraq War. "This Administration has never made its case for war against Iraq. This war must end now. It was unjust when it started last week, and is still unjust today. The U.S. should get out now and try to save the lives of American troops and Iraqi citizens. Most importantly, ending the war now and resuming weapons inspections could salvage world opinion of the United States, which has been deteriorating since the talk of war began.

Dennis Kucinich is an American politician of the Democratic party. He served as the 53rd mayor of Cleveland, Ohio from 1977 to 1979, a tumultuous term in which he survived a recall election and was successful in a battle against selling the municipal electric utility. He today serves as the Representative (Member of Congress) for the 10th District of Ohio. It includes most of western Cleveland, as well as such suburbs as Parma and Cuyahoga Heights. He ran for President of the United States in 2004 and has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President in 2008. He is currently the chairman of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich writes, "Is President[sic] Bush's war in Iraq about oil? Oil obviously drives U.S. policy in the Middle East. So who can doubt that this war in Iraq concerns oil?" Alternet adds, "Although Dennis Kucinich was aggressively attacked by Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen for suggesting that the preemptive strike on Iraq was based on oil, the Post refused to print the presidential candidate and Ohio Democrat's response. This was especially frustrating, since the Post editorial stance and balance of editorial page columns have been decidedly pro-war. You can tell the Post how you feel about this omission at ombudsman@washpost.com."

Dennis Kucinich has every right to be heard (as a presidential candidate). The media should not bar so called lower-tier candidates because it is the major media's fault why lower-tier candidates rank low in the polls. The media pundits give more air time to their "endorsed" candidates such as Clinton & Obama. Why not let people make up their minds on who they want to be next President instead of giving the message that you should choose only among their "endorsed" candidates because they are electable. People are the ones who vote! The major media are undermining the process of democracy.
