Remicade's treatment regimen for psoriatic arthritis calls for patients to receive 5 mg per kg in three infusions in a doctor's office during the first six weeks of treatment. During an infusion, the patient sits in a chair or lies on an examination table and the medication is administered by IV in the course of about two to three hours.

Many people with heart failure should not take Remicade; so prior to treatment you should discuss any heart condition with your doctor. Tell your doctor right away if you develop new or worsening symptoms of heart failure (such as shortness of breath or swelling of your ankles or feet). There are reports of serious infections, including tuberculosis (TB), sepsis and pneumonia. Some of these infections have been fatal. Tell your doctor if you have had recent or past exposure to people with TB. Your doctor will evaluate you for TB and perform a skin test.

Remicade is given as an injection through a needle placed into a vein. Your doctor, nurse, or other healthcare provider will give you this injection. This medicine is usually given at intervals of 2 to 8 weeks.

Remicade is available by prescription, primarily from rheumatologists and gastroenterologists. Some dermatologists are prescribing it for psoriasis. Once a person and his or her doctor make the decision that Remicade is an appropriate treatment, a determination of insurance coverage will need to be made, and preauthorization from the insurance company will likely be needed.

The controversy surrounding Humira and Remicade side effects is just beginning as additional studies are underway to verify the initial findings of the Mayo Clinic study. People who have been injured as a result of using Humira or Remicade are advised to consult with their doctor and contact a personal injury lawyer to determine whether or not legal action against Abbott Laboratories or Centocor is justified. Contact the Law Offices of Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz to get information about your rights as a victim.

Before receiving treatment with ORENCIA individuals should tell their doctor if they are taking a TNF blocker (e.g., Enbrel(R), Humira(R), Remicade(R)) to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ORENCIA should not be taken with these medications because of a higher chance of getting a serious infection. Individuals should ... tell their doctor if they are taking Kineret(R) to treat RA. ORENCIA should not be taken with Kineret. People taking ORENCIA should notify their doctor if they are taking any other medications including hormones, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, supplements or herbal products.
