   Rem Vyakhirev, Gazprom's chief executive since 1992, is an establishment giant whose future status is of interest to politicians, stockbrokers and investment bankers the world over. His contract expires on Thursday. The board gathers to decide his fate tomorrow Wednesday. If the government's five board members ally themselves with Boris Fyodorov, the director representing minority investors, the Vyakhirev era will be over. Share prices would go through the ceiling. But does the Kremlin have the guts to junk the man?

During NREM sleep, breathing and heart rates slow down, and body temperature and blood pressure often decrease. When awakened from periods of NREM sleep, subjects are much less likely to report vivid, action-packed dreams. Brain wave activity during NREM sleep is dominated by large, slow waves that contrast markedly to the short, rapid wave patterns characteristic of REM sleep and the waking state.

Although patients with narcolepsy experience drowsiness and sleep attacks during the daytime, they also wake up frequently during the nighttime hours. For this reason, narcolepsy is more accurately described as a disorder of the normal boundaries between sleep and wakefulness.

   By using SAS, Pitney Bowes was able to keep its data stored on its legacy warehouse systems but now was able to see it all in one view. For instance, instead of running multiple credit checks on the same customers, Mahinda Yapa, Director of Credit and Portfolio Management, Global Financial Services, created a model with SAS that estimates creditworthiness based on several factors, including the type and size of business. "Now we don't have to ask for personal information like Social Security numbers, which delayed opening the account," he says.

   Often, nightmares and night terrors can be diagnosed on the basis of the patient's history. In persons who have a history of nocturnal injuries, polysomnography is required to diagnose REM behavior disorder or nocturnal seizures. To diagnose REM behavior disorder, the use of additional electromyographic arm leads is required. In up to 25 percent of patients with epilepsy, the condition may present only as nocturnal seizures.25 A diagnosis of nocturnal seizure may be suggested by family history, stereotypic nocturnal behaviors and incontinence. Nocturnal seizures can be grand mal, petit mal, partial-complex, vegetative or paroxysmal nocturnal dystonias.25
