Relenza: Asthma
built 615 days ago
Relenza has been known to cause serious and potentially fatal breathing problems, especially in people who have asthma or other chronic pulmonary disorders. If you develop breathing difficulties such as wheezing or shortness of breath, stop taking Relenza and call your doctor immediately.
Relenza is not recommended for people with underlying respiratory disease such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. If you feel any respiratory discomfort, nausea or diarrhea after inhaling Relenza, seek medical help. Pregnant and nursing mothers should always discuss their condition before going on a course of Relenza.
Relenza (Zanamivir) has been known to cause serious and potentially fatal breathing problems, especially in people who have asthma or other chronic pulmonary disorders. If you do use it under these circumstances, be extremely cautious, and make sure that you have a fast-acting inhaled bronchodilator (Proventil Inhaler or Ventolin Inhaler) available and ready to use whenever you take Relenza (Zanamivir).
Relenza is generally not recommended for anyone with a chronic lung disease. If you do use it under these circumstances, be extremely cautious, and make sure that you have a fast-acting inhaled bronchodilator (a type of asthma medication such as albuterol) available and ready to use whenever you take it. If you use an inhaled bronchodilator regularly and have a dose scheduled at the same time as Relenza, use the bronchodilator first.

Patients with asthma or other lung problems can very rarely have a problem with tightening of airways when using Relenza. Keep your reliever inhaler (beta-agonist, e.g. Ventolin) with you at all times in case this could happen.
