There are situations where the same street address will be issued multiple registration numbers. One example is an office park where there are many buildings at the same street address. Each building may have a different registration number. Another example would be where different legal entities share the same space, but are not under the same management control. If a firm rents some of the space, they would have a different registration number. If they have the same owner and management, FDA wouldn't issue a second registration number.

There are organisations that offer perpetual vehicle registration over the internet. You cannot legally register your vehicle for road use with any organisation other than Queensland Transport. If you do purchase perpetual registration over the internet your vehicle will be considered unregistered and uninsured for compulsory third party insurance. You will be either fined for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle or summoned to appear before a magistrate if you are intercepted by a Queensland Police Officer or a Queensland Transport Inspector. Any number plates issued as part of the perpetual registration are illegal and may be confiscated.

Once your complete registration materials are received, they will be processed by the CHSPE Office. If you register prior to the regular registration deadline, a confirmation postcard will be mailed or an e-mail message will be sent to you within two weeks acknowledging receipt of your registration materials. However, it is your responsibility to confirm that your registration materials have been received and accepted. If you do not receive confirmation within three weeks of submitting your registration materials, or an Admission Ticket by seven days prior to the test date, contact the CHSPE Office.

If the new plates you wish to obtain are in stock at the DMV, you should renew the registration, surrender the old plates and obtain the new ones at the same time. Bring the old plates into the office with you.
