A region is scalable because its coordinates are specified in world coordinates. On a drawing surface... its interior is dependent on the size and shape of the pixels representing it. An application can use regions to clamp the output of drawing operations. The window manager uses regions to define the drawing area of windows. These regions are called clipping regions. An application can also use regions in hit-testing operations, such as checking whether a point or a rectangle intersects a region. An application can fill a region by using a Brush object.

The jewel of this region is Maine's only National Park, Acadia. From Penobscot Bay all the way Downeast, around the eastern nose of Maine and up along the Canadian border, the scenery is wild, rocky and dramatic. The farther inland you go, the more wilderness you will encounter. Though the crowds in Acadia can be daunting, there are always places on Mount Desert Island where you can stand alone on the top of a mountain and gaze at the island-dotted ocean. Even with numerous events within a single region, not every geographic area will host an event. Events may even concentrate within one area within the region. This may be because of a geographic concentration of members. When the majority of members live within one area, this may be where the larger events are held. Most events are ... held where the volunteers are; no one is likely to volunteer to organize from scratch an event in an area with which they are unfamiliar. This means that some members may face a lengthy drive to attend their regions major events.
