It is part of the Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), which ... includes United Artists, Edwards and Hoyts theaters, among others. The Regal Group cinemas include 6,119 screens in 532 theaters in 39 states, representing 17% of all screens in the U.S.

Based in Tennessee, Regal Cinemas is the largest theatre chain in the world. With state-of-the-art projection systems and stadium-style seating, Regal movie houses really add to the experience of going out to see a movie.
Regal Cinemas, based in Knoxville, already has two theaters in Huntsville - on South Memorial Parkway near Joe Davis Stadium and at Madison Square Mall. Gary Safady, managing partner of O&S, said he did not know if Regal planned to close one of the existing theaters.
Regal Cinemas has installed touchscreen kiosks throughout its newest theater concept: a 95,000 square-foot family entertainment center and theater complex called Funscape. Opened during the summer of 1995 in Chesapeake, Virginia, Funscape includes 14 movie screens, a two-story miniature golf course, numerous virtualreality games, a high-tech video arcade, a food court incorporating several fast-food restaurants, and many other attractions.
The old Regal Cinemas was relatively new to Orange County, with two theaters. Because of this, the theaters tended to be larger and cleaner than some of the others. United Artists had a few theaters in the area, most notably a pathetic theater in the old Buena Park Mall, but that was more the fault of the underperformance of the mall than anything else. Currently, they are a non-entity in the area.

As former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Regal Cinemas, the world's largest movie theater chain, Frazer was responsible for all the financial aspects of publicly traded Regal, including the financial, accounting and MIS functions. In addition, he led Regal for six years through an initial public offering and was responsible for pursuing and negotiating mergers and acquisitions, establishing and maintaining relationships with both senior debt holders and investment bankers, and all aspects of public equity and debt offerings. The company was sold to two leveraged buyout firms in 1998 for $1.5 billion in value with annual sales of $800 million and 400 theater locations.
