Reese Witherspoon was born in New Orleans, and raised in an expensive part of Nashville. Her father was a surgeon, her mother a college professor, and Witherspoon attended a private, all-girls school, where she was a straight-A student. She became a model at the age of 7, when a family friend who owned a flower shop asked if young Reese could pose for an advertisement. She eventually appeared in several TV commercials, took acting lessons, and at 14 she auditioned for a small role in a movie to be filmed in the Nashville area, The Man in the Moon. Instead she landed the nominal lead, as the young tomboy who gets her first kiss from Jason London.

In September 2005, Witherspoon and Reese Witherspoon children were celebrating daughter Ava's sixth birthday at Disney's California Adventure theme park when they were approached by paparazzi photographer Todd Wallace. After Witherspoon declined to pose for photos at close range, police say Wallace became enraged and pushed a child out of the way, while hitting another with his camera, in his efforts to photograph the actress.

The first time actors Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, who play Cash and Carter respectively, are seen together on screen is during a scene that occurs backstage of a 1955 concert featuring Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and Cash. The filmmakers even typed Texarkana, Texas, in white letters at the bottom left-hand side of the screen.

Well this is one stereotype actor Reese Witherspoon has put to rest. Smart, talented and successful, Reese juggles career, husband and children as if she were always a pro. No matter if Reese is a United States Marshal trekking across the frozen land of Antarctica (Whiteout, 2005) or downright ditzy (Legally Blonde films) make no mistake, the lady knows what she's doing.
