  1. Kinsey Reports -- Sex
The authors and editors of Kinsey, Sex and Fraud are calling for an investigation into the entire Kinsey research effort and the full scope of its effects. It would seem appropriate to gain access to original material (if it is not destroyed) to help understand even the motivation behind what has been done. In the case of the child sex studies, who were the children, who were the experimenters, who gave them their scientific training, who wrote the protocols (there is a remarkable consistency of method) and, most importantly, what happened to the children in later life? Many would now be in their 40s and 50s and should be privately evaluated for possible damage and treatment. A Lancet reviewer, looking at the evidence now assembled in Kinsey, Sex and Fraud, has concluded that it "demolishes the foundations of the two [Kinsey] reports" and leaves "his former co-workers some explaining to do"14 That would be a start. But even a passing concern for integrity in science would make an investigation and accounting of the Kinsey team's research obligatory.
  2. Opiate Addiction Treatment -- Heroin
Addiction treatment researchers are applauding the findings of the panel, which presided over a consensus conference organized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to review the research and report on the most effective treatment of heroin addiction. But many behavioral researchers believe their work is just beginning. Increased access to methadone still leaves the challenge of getting addicts into treatment, keeping them there and preventing relapse.

Mama Lisa's House of Nursery Rhymes is easy to navigate, with six dozen rhymes listed alphabetically down the left side. Some have illustrations and funny hidden sounds, the rest are simply text. Other worthwhile clicks are the poems of Eugene Field (such as "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod" and "The Duel") and Mama Lisa's collection of international folk children songs. "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night / Sailed off in a wooden shoe / Sailed on a river of crystal light / Into a sea of dew."
  6. Vincent Price -- Life
Vincent Price shares a quiversome quartet of horror stories. A vexed lover breaks his date the hard way; a carnival sword swallower gets digestion problems; a merciless hood finds out the drawbacks to life eternal; and a Civil War traitor runs afoul of a different sort of "brat pack." Clu Gulager, Cameron Mitchell, Susan Tyrrell, Rosalind Cash star. AKA: "The Offspring." 100 min. 7. Lunar Lander -- Landings
The three main communication links considered in this report are Lander-Earth, Lander-OTV, and Lander-Lunar Base. For Lander-Earth communications, a steerable S-band antenna will be used with infrared sensors for pointing. For Lander-OTV communications, X-band radar will be used for rendezvous and a low power VHF antenna will be used for transmission of data to be relayed to earth. The low power VHF antenna will ... be used for communication with a lunar base. The communication with Earth will be performed through the Tracking Data Acquisition System (TDAS), the replacement for the present (Tracking Data Relay Satellite System) TDRSS system.
  8. George W. Bush -- Terms
Bush began his second term with an emphasis on improving strained relations with European nations. He appointed long-time adviser Karen Hughes to oversee a global public relations campaign. Bush lauded the pro-democracy struggles in Georgia and Ukraine. In March 2006, Bush visited India, leading to renewed ties between the two countries, particularly in areas of nuclear energy and counter-terrorism cooperation. Midway through Bush's second term, many analysts observed a retreat from his freedom and democracy agenda, highlighted in policy changes toward some oil-rich former Soviet republics in central Asia.
  9. Kathleen Kenyon -- Dame Kathleen Kenyon
Dame Kathleen Kenyon has always been a larger-than-life figure, likely the most influential woman archaeologist of the 20th century. In the first full-length biography of Kenyon, Miriam Davis recounts not only her many achievements in the field but ... her personal side, known to very few of her contemporaries. Her public side is a catalog of major successes: discovering the oldest city at Jericho with its amazing collection of plastered skulls; untangling the archaeological complexities of ancient Jerusalem and identifying the original City of David; participating in the discipline's most famous all-woman excavation at Great Zimbabwe. Her development (with Sir Mortimer Wheeler) of stratigraphic trenching methods has been universally emulated by archaeologists for over half a century. Her private life—her childhood as daughter of the director of the British Museum, her accidental choice of a career in archaeology, her working at bombed sites in London during the blitz, and her solitary retirement to Wales—are generally unknown. Davis provides a balanced and illuminating picture of both the public Dame Kenyon and the private person.
  10. William Wallace -- Blind Harry
The reputation of William Wallace runs like a fault line through later medieval chronicles. For the Scots, William Wallace was an exemplar of unbending commitment to Scotland’s independence who died a martyr to the cause. For centuries after its publication, Blind Harry’s 15th-century epic poem, ‘The Wallace’, was the second most popular book in Scotland after the Bible.
