A child reading manga Reading requires more lighting than many other activities. Therefore, the possibility of comfortable reading in cafés, restaurants, buses, at bus stops or in parks greatly varies depending on available lighting and time of day. Starting in the 1950s, many offices and classrooms were over-illuminated. Since about 1990, there has been a movement to create reading environments with appropriate lighting levels (approximately 600 to 800 lux).
As Editor in Chief of Light Reading, Harvey will be responsible for managing the editorial staff while driving strategy. In his previous role of Managing Editor, Harvey handled the day-to-day editorial operations of Light Reading. In his current post he will ensure that Light Reading remains committed to its readership and market with deep, analytical reporting. In 2007, Harvey's exclusive investigative reporting led to coverage of a telco equipment cabinet explosion, which occurred in October 200, the result of malfunctioning AT&T batteries supplied by Avestor.
