LYCOS RETRIEVER
Rayman

Rayman 3 is one of the most distinctive looking games around at the moment and its unique graphical style works really well. It's an evolution of the exaggerated, cartoon style of previous games and the range of pick-ups, environments and enemies are more imaginative than ever. Rayman is accompanied on his journey by his bumbling friend Globox, a giant frog. Globox pulled off Rayman's hands whilst trying to wake him (!) and so Rayman now has to catch him - but he's very frightened by the Hoodlums and is running around in a barrel as a disguise. This presents the first simple puzzle in the game - you must stop Globox long enough to catch him and smash that barrel, so he can see it is you that's chasing him. Then it's off to the see the fairies, whose power has been exploited by the Hoodlums.

Rayman is a video game designed and published by Ubisoft. It was originally released in September 1995 for the Atari Jaguar and MS-DOS, and in November 1995 for the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn. A port of this game was to be released for the Sega 32X, but when the system died off due to low popularity, the port was canceled. Rayman is a traditional side-scrolling platform game which revolves around the titular character's quest to save his world from the evil Mr. Dark.

From 1995 onwards, Rayman has had his appearance changed slightly for each game, possibly to make him look older. He is typically found wearing white gloves, a red scarf (or hood as seen in Rayman 3), a purple shirt with a white "O" on it, and yellow sneakers. The O appears to have magical properties. Whenever he earned a new power in Rayman, sparkles would appear around the O; in Rayman 2, it was used to open the stones holding the masks. While he appears to have no arms or legs, his feet and hands are some how connected to him but can be removed and reattactched. Rayman is made up of electoons as shown in the first game.

Rayman 3 has plenty of levels for you to get your hands on. There are over fifty levels, which means you’ll play the game for quite a while. It is possible to get through the game in a day or two, with an extremely low percentile. If you want to get the full 100%, you’ll need to explore every nook in each level and even revisit some levels once you learn new techniques. The platforming elements aren’t very different than what you have seen before, but do a great job. Excellent level designs make the game more enjoyable and less repetitive, something many handheld platforms don’t seem to get right.

Rayman has made its way to the PlayStation. Rayman has a head, torso, hands, and feet, but he is missing a neck, arms, and legs. As you can probably guess, Rayman's world is filled with a healthy amount of humor and insanity; it is ... filled with bright colorful graphics. You must guide Rayman through level after level of action. In any given level, Rayman will have to jump from platforms, swing from hooks, or run through mazes. Once you complete a level, you will have to return to it multiple times to collect all of the secrets as Rayman earns new abilities throughout the game.

Those who have played any Rayman platformer before will instantly feel at home. When the adventure begins Rayman has his standard set of trademark moves; jump, crawl, helicopter (allowing him to fly for a couple of seconds) and a chargeable fist punch. Unlike Rayman Advance, all of these abilities are given right at the beginning so the player isn't forced to play too many basic levels that revolve solely around jumping from platform to platform. There are a number of additional moves that Rayman will learn during frequent encounters with another familiar face, Ly the fairy. These extra moves include Super-Helico, which allows Rayman to use a more powerful helicopter move for a longer duration, double first and power fist attacks as well as the all-new body slam move that allows Rayman to destroy certain parts of the ground in some levels. Control wise the game is simple and easy to pick up with the A and B buttons controlling jump and punch moves respectively whilst the L and R buttons are used for two power upgrades gained later in the game.
