LOS ANGELES - Actor Ray Liotta has pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge after police say he drove into two parked cars. Liotta, who is perhaps best known for playing gangster Henry Hill in the 1990 film "Goodfellas," entered the plea Wednesday as part of a deal with prosecutors, city attorney's office spokesman Frank Mateljan said Thursday.

Actor Ray Liotta was arrested Saturday night after crashing his vehicle into several parked cars. LAPD officers cuffed the actor and took him in for driving under the influence. Preliminary reports show the substance which Liotta was allegedly under was not alcohol.

Like many struggling actors, Liotta began his career on a soap opera, Another World, where acting sometimes takes a backburner to dashing good looks. After several TV stints, he made his rather modest feature film debut with The Lonely Lady (1983). He never permanently left working in TV, but slowly, over the years, has turned more and more to the big screen, where some of his early efforts made a big splash: Something Wild (1986), Dominick and Eugene (1988) and most famously, Field of Dreams (1989), the major Kevin Costner blockbuster, where Liotta played the man himself: legendary baseball player Shoeless Joe Jackson.

Liotta, 53, was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in Los Angeles after driving his SUV into two parked cars in February. He pleaded no contest to the charges as part of a deal with city prosecutors in exchange for a pending DUI charge to be dropped against him.
