Columbia, SC--The Columbia Blowfish exploded for a 10-run second inning to beat the River Rats 14-4 Wednesday night. In the loss, Keon Graves hit his team-leading 4th home run of the season, and Ryne Price hit his third home run in just 16 games since joining the team. Kenny Price was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Nick Hogan was 2-for-4. In his first appearance with the team, Nick Martin was 1-for-1 with an eighth inning single.

The team will continue to work with rats that express a mutant form of the protein, copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (SOD1). This mutation is linked to some inherited forms of the disease. As ALS without a history of affected family members is clinically indistinguishable from inherited ALS, the rat outcome may have hope for all individuals affected by the disease.

New Bern, NC--Inclement weather forced Friday night's River Rats game against the Wilmington Sharks at Boykin Field to be rained out. The teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader in Wilmington on Saturday. The teams will return for a doubleheader on Sunday in New Bern.
