The Rats' second album, A Tonic for the Troops, was their most commercially successful. It featured three hit singles, "Like Clockwork", "She's So Modern" and "Rat Trap", which became the first ever rock song by an Irish band to reach #1 in the UK, and the first of any description by an Irish band to top the chart used by the BBC (The Bachelors had topped the Record Retailer chart in 1964 with "Diane", but only reached number 2 on the Pick of the Pops chart), and was ... the first 'New Wave' song to claim the number one spot.

Selfless by nature, naked mole-rats happily share their food with colony-mates. Biologist Paul Sherman studied such foraging behavior in his laboratory at Cornell University. He observed that when an individual mole-rat discovers a new food source it will grab a chunk and scurry back to the nest, chirping all the way. Upon arrival at the nest, the food scout will wave the morsel aloft for all to smell. This chirp-and-wave maneuver sets off a small stampede, as workers race to collect more food and bring it back to feed the whole colony. Sherman believes the rodents are following a chemical trail or signature scent left by the scouting mole-rat.

Once they have started to settle into their new environment, you can start introducing them to your existing rats, if you have any. All introductions should initially be in neutral territory, somewhere like a bed or bathroom. With young rats, it may not take much time before you can put them in the main cage together. Before you put them in together, you should disinfect the main cage and rearrange the toys, so they see that as neutral territory. Adding a little rescue remedy to their water, about 4-5 drops can ... help relax the rats. Vanilla essence can also be used to hide scents.
