The Game (Jayceon Taylor aka Chuck Taylor) was born and raised in the "birthplace of gangsta rap," Compton, California. He received his nickname from his grandmother who claimed he was always game for anything. Growing up in Compton, The Game grew up in the Santana Blocc Crips neighborhood. He was placed in a foster home from the 3rd grade until the 9th grade due to family problems with his father. Soon after he was reunited with his mother, one of his older brothers, Jevon, was shot and killed. Just after his high school graduation in 1999, another older adopted brother, Charles, was shot and killed.
Reminiscent of breakthrough classic rap artists, PRE$$URE unloads an original style that pushes the boundaries of formulaic urban music to set a standard with Destined For Greatness. With his deep, daunting lyrics that float through Golden Bridges combined with his versatility on the album's most adventurous track, Polly-Olly, PRE$$URE paints portraits of everyday life and the affect everyday decisions can have. Through well-crafted metaphoric messages that hang closely to the hip harmonies supplied flawlessly on several tracks by T.C., Destined For Greatness puts PRE$$URE in a leadership role for pushing positives in today's culture. Without any explicit lyrics and focused on anti-violent solutions, Destined For Greatness is blessed spiritual experience for listeners of all ages.

Perhaps the earliest and most famous freestyle battle was in 1981 when Kool Moe Dee challenged Busy Bee Starski. Busy Bee was known for his chants of "What's your zodiac sign?" and other crowdpleasers that had been originated a few years before by other rappers.
Bakari Kitwana, who has written about rap in books such as "Why White Kids Love Hip-Hop," said it was a step in the right direction. Kitwana said there needed to be uniformity in removing obscenities from music. He pointed out that in some songs curse words are replaced with clean words while, in others, epithets and curse words are merely covered up by silence, allowing listeners to still infer from context the edited words.
