Randy Rhoads formed the band Quiet Riot in 1976. Playing small clubs and schools in the late seventies, the band became so popular they signed with Sony Records. In 1979 Rhoads had the custom guitar designer Karl Sandoval make him a black and white polka dot flying "V", and it became his signature guitar. At the request of a friend, Rhoads auditioned for the guitarist position in The Ozzy Osbourne Band. Rhoads played with the band until his untimely death in a plane crash in 1982. Randy Rhoads will be best known for his guitar playing and his artistically designed guitars.

Director Peter Margolis began filming with the blessing of the Rhoads family this past March to mark the 25th anniversary of Rhoads' death in a small plane crash. The producers of the film are looking for several people whom they'd like to interview for the movie but have yet to locate, and have enlisted the help of the public through the film's MySpage page.

His parents were Rhonda and Ronnie, and his siblings were Roberta, Ricky, Rudolph and Rolly (researchers and scientists are still trying to figure out how "Rolly" actually became a name). He began playing guitar at the age of 6 months, and it was only 4 months later that he began to teach at his mother's music school. Some of his more notable students were Chuck Berry, Jeff Beck, Dave Mustaine (he acquired his homosexuality when he stopped his lessons prematurely), Kerry King, Tripp Eisen, Tony Blair, Chuck Norris, God, and Jesus (God was pretty well off; he got jesus a shiny new les paul and lessons with randy for his 10th birthday).

Ironically, as with Quiet Riot, Randy Rhoads guitar playing would be heard on two full length albums and one e.p. while in Ozzy Osbournes band. The "Mr. Crowley" e.p. featured live performances of three songs (including: "You said it all", previously unreleased) recorded in October of 1980 in South Hampton, England, during the United Kingdom "Blizzard of Ozz" tour.
