After the stops, Schumacher was slowing down and fast. Häkkinen was getting away at almost a second a lap and Coulthard was closing in at around a second a lap. On lap 46, Coulthard was right with him, Next lap, he made his move at the first corner, trying to get him on the inside. Schumacher moved to the inside but Coulthard got past him on the outside, like he did on Barrichello in Britain. Within 4 laps, Schumacher fell down toward the battle between Ralf and Barrichello. On lap 51, Ralf made his move but Schumacher blocked him.

His parents took on extra jobs at the karting circuit to be able to afford their son’s hobby, but when the expenses got to much, Schumacher found investment from several businesses. In Germany, you have to be 14 to get a karting licence, so a 12 year old Schumacher obtained his from Luxemburg instead. A few years later he was legal in Germany, and winning karting championships easily.

Mercedes a annoncé ses pilotes pour la saison 2008 en DTM, avec deux débutants : Ralf Schumacher et Maro Engel. Bernd Schneider, Bruno Spengler et Jamie Green disposeront, comme l'an dernier, des dernières versions de la Mercedes Classe C. Paul di Resta, très performant depuis ses débuts en DTM, aura également une voiture 2008.
