As Ralf got better acceleration off the starting grid, he moved to pass the Ferrari on the inside. Michael responded by moving over to the right towards the pit wall. The two cars came within a few centimetres of touching before Ralf was forced to back off to prevent a collision.

Stuttgart - Former Formula One driver Ralf Schumacher on Monday joined the German Touring Car series DTM for the Mercedes team, against the advice of his famous brother Michael. The seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schaumcher warned: "We are not talented enough for this. Its a different world."
