Railroad Tycoon: Railroad Tycoon Deluxe
built 656 days ago
Because of Railroad Tycoon s success Microprose started work on a sequel the was going to be Railroad Tycoon 2 but Sid Mier did not like that name so the game was re-named Railroad Tycoon Deluxe. It was updated with improved graphics, new trains & maps. Although not directly written by Sid Mier the game was ... a big hit.

Railroad Tycoon Deluxe basically puts a pretty face on an otherwise solid game. As far as play goes, the bugs of the new version balance out the enhancements. If you already own Railroad Tycoon, it might not be worth the money to upgrade. But if you never played the original, this is one rail line you'll want to hop aboard.

An updated version of this game named Railroad Tycoon Deluxe (RDX) was created and released in 1993. Despite a host of new features and graphics, RDX sold very poorly in stores, due to some bugs and inexplicably slow gameplay (most notoriously the F4 map screen, which brings the game to a crawl).
