Railroad Tycoon 2 is one of the first game ever to be made only in 1024x768 resolution. The business engine in the game has ... been updated. You will be able to buy other companies, arrange mergers, sell up your old company and start a new one. Another major feature in the game is a map editor so people can create there own maps to play on, player will be able to export there maps and share them with their friends. Railroad Tycoon 2 also features lots of maps of the world including the UK , North & South America , Europe, Asia , Australia & Parts of Africa.

Railroad Tycoon 3 provides you with a variety of materials for learning how to succeed in the scenarios. There is the tutorial, a beginner's guide (which is basically the same as the tutorial in written form), a reference guide, and a table of locomotives/industries. That's a far stretch from most games which barely provide a manual. Unfortunately, not all of these resources are very helpful. The industry side of the table is hard to understand, and the beginner's guide/tutorial are a little too basic. At least the reference guide is very in depth and will be of use throughout the game.

For the uninitiated, Railroad Tycoon is a simulation authored by Sid Meier and published in 1990 by Microprose. The game challenges players to build a profitable rail empire in a fairly complex environment. Economic conditions, terrain factors, and competition from computerized opponents make the game more a test of management skill than a true railroading simulation. Railroad Tycoon has in fact been used as a classroom exercise by university schools of management.

Railroad Tycoon 3 is not a game for everybody. If you’re a button masher it probably won’t do a thing for you. However if you like god games, wheeling and dealing or are just a train buff, this is the purchase to keep you from going off the rails this summer. (Couldn’t resist that one, folks).
