An arsenal of heavyweight tunes has followed, securing Raiden as one of the most respected producers on the scene today and it doesn't stop there. Raiden has recently gathered a group of like-minded producers to form the label OffKey, whose main goal is to bridge the gap between techno and drum & bass in a new, unique and pioneering format. All this on top of a heavy touring schedule shows that Raiden is one of the busiest and most talented players on the field.

In Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, it states that Raiden is 7 feet tall. His sprite... appears to be the same height as the rest of the fighters. His coolie hat is his most recognizable feature. The Chinese character for thunder, é›·, is visible on most of his costumes. A saya (katana scabbard) appears on Raiden's secondary costumes in Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon. However, he is never seen using the sword.

Raiden was a Goa'uld who never achieved the rank of System Lord, despite owning a small empire in the Milky Way galaxy. He was said to have prevented the Mongols from invading Japan by sending down a shower of lightning arrows on their fleets—it is unknown if there was any truth to this, but it is possible that the "lightning arrows" were in fact staff weapon blasts. What is known is that Raiden defended the land of Nihon from Mongol raiders and, as punishment for attacking, he took the Mongols from Earth to the world of Simarka where they served him until their eventual rebellion.

Raiden appears in the Malibu Comics series as the guide and mentor of Earthrealm warriors. Unlike its stated background, he doesn't compete in the first tournament, since he is not allowed to due to his status. Raiden and Shang Tsung are portrayed as bitter enemies, having constant verbal assaults and proper fights, commonly ending in draw. He ... can't interfere in mortal affairs, as shown when Johnny Cage was to answer the last question of the Tao The Zan.
