Racism: Races
built 287 days ago
Racism is a developed set of attitudes that include antagonism based on the supposed superiority of one group or on the supposed inferiority of another group, premised solely on skin color or race. Some authors suggest that racism and white racism may be synonymous. Defining bigotry as a primarily white problem does disservice in two ways. It ignores the fact that racist attitudes can breed in any ethnic group and it undermines the expressed goals of this decade's most promising solution--multicultural education. Celebration of diversity is a better foundation for racial harmony than is class guilt, says Charles Glenn (1989).

Racism is at the center of the discriminatory conditions within the business. For example, white women may have the choice to work at a sauna, at a bar or hotel, or for an escort agency. Very few Black women will even be considered for these upscale prostitution venues, or they may not "travel in those circles." Street work may be their only option. On the street, police often reserve tourist and commercial districts for white women, harassing women of color to an even greater extent and advising them to ply their trade on the other side of the tracks.

Racism has come to mean the hatred of another person because of the color of his or her skin, or perceived difference in origin. The doctrine of substantive due process in United States constitutional law can be used to invalidate racist laws. Alternately, the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment can be used to do the same. See e.g. Brown v. Board of Education, 347 U.S. 483 (1954).

Racism affects everyone. It damages communities by limiting the contributions of its members and disrupts peaceful co-existence and co-operation between groups. It damages individuals by destroying self-confidence and preventing them from achieving their potential. It is particularly damaging for children as it hampers social development and limits educational opportunities. The consequences of racism - social injustice, a less productive economy and a divided community - are clearly detrimental, not only for its victims but to society as a whole.

As a consequence of these early efforts the Center for the Healing of Racism was established. The Center's Articles of Incorporation were approved by the State of Texas on November 17, 1992. The organization is governed by a board of directors and its program is managed by an experienced directors.

Racism is just another sin which has to be killed but it cannot be killed by running to a stadium and holding hands with other races. It is killed by the preaching of the true gospel which replaces the heart of stone with a heart of flesh (Ezek. 36:26) which is another way of saying salvation.
