Though born in Massachusetts, Rachael Ray has called upstate New York home for most of her life. It was there that, after gaining experience in the food industry in New York City, she first became noticed as a celebrity cook in the late 1990s. After signing on to The Food Network in 2001, she quickly built an empire out of cookbooks, TV shows and cooking products.
