Great Race marks the centennial of one of the most remarkable motorsports events of the 20th century — an auto race around the world from New York to Paris in 1908, before today’s modern highways and fuel stations. In a re-run of that milestone event, the 2008 Great Race will depart New York City on 30 May 2008 and travel 35,000 km (22,000 miles), to Paris, France and finish on 2 August. (More)

The Race of Champions was originally conceived as the ultimate shoot-out between the best international rally stars. But experts from other disciplines have given the rally boys more than just a run for their money over the years. They include MotoGP's Valentino Rossi, six-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner Tom Kristensen, four-time NASCAR Champ Jeff Gordon and seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher.

Race sponsors and a delegation of business, civic and government leaders from Pittsburgh, Pa., including Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato, extended the invitation today at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. Considered to be among the world's best development teams of young cyclists, the Dutch squad now begins the qualifying process to name its team of six riders who will compete in the Tour of Pennsylvania.
