Jack Rabbit: There are two ways to wire up your two batteries. You can either treat them as two separate battery banks, or as one combined bank. If they are to be two separate battery banks then you will need to install a selector switch (1/2/Both switch) and wire the positive terminal of one battery to one stud on the switch (#1) and the positive of the other to the other stud (#2). Then you connect your DC loads to the common stud, and these loads will be powered either by battery #1, or #2, or both depending on the switch position. You would need a charger with two outputs, one for each battery. The negative terminals of the two batteries should be connected together and ... connected to the negative side of all DC circuits and the charger and inverter.

This particular Rabbit was one of the first made in the US, using a factory in Pittsburgh (UAW-organized) that was built, but never used, by Chrysler. Quite a few owners say that American VWs were better made than German ones. American Rabbits had square headlights, and were made with a new process that went wrong on mine: a roof weld came loose early on, and the dealer claimed many times nothing was wrong until it was sent back to the factory (this turned out to be a problem on many early American Rabbits that was fixed after a few months). The clutch ... died a very early death and was replaced under warranty. Another peculiarity of these Rabbits was a system that required the use of shims to adjust the drive belts, not the smartest system in the world considering the layout of the engine bay.

Jack Rabbit: Your 6 batteries have a total capacity of about 675 Amp-Hours. Amp-Hours (Ah) are a measure of battery capacity. The rated Ah capacity of a battery is measured in a standardized way: the amp-hour capacity of a battery over a time period measures the amount of power that can be extracted from a battery over that period at a steady rate before its voltage falls below a certain level. For example, if a battery will provide a steady 5A over 20 hours then it is rated at 5 x 20 = 100Ah. The standard time period for these measurement is 20 hours. To compare deep-cycle batteries, always use their capacity in Ah at the '20 Hour Rate'.

It has been said that if you undertake to make a list of rabbit foods, list what they DON'T eat, not what they do. The "don't" list will be much smaller. In short, rabbits eat a wide variety of plant materials. Green vegetation of grasses, legumes and tender shoots of all kinds are important foods during all seasons, but form the bulk of the diet during the time when young rabbits are growing. During the rest of the year, corn, soybeans (and other waste grains), blackberry, dewberry, apples, horse nettle, etc. are favored.
