The Noble Qur'an is the greatest of the books of God. It is the most outstanding book ever to appear on the face of the earth. It is not merely a compilation of chronicles of an ancient people, nor yet of a group of Prophets, or even of all Prophets. Nor is it solely a book of morals. It is certainly not just a book of science, and it is not simply a book of rules and laws. Rather, it is a set of arguments in the Divine tongue setting out exactly why the reader, or listener, should recognise Allah, glorified be He, submit to Him, glorified be He, and follow the Divine religion.

The Qur'an is the primary source of Islamic belief and practice. The book stresses the existence of the one true God. The Qur'an states that God is the source of all life: “He is the First and the Last, the Outward and the Inward; And He is the Knower of every thing.” Moreover, God is transcendent—humans are unable to fully comprehend his glory and essence. The exegesis of the Qur'an is a reality, or several realities, which are to be found in the Source Book, the Book of Decrees with God; the Source Book is part of the unseen and far from the reach of corrupters. The same idea is treated again in chapter LVI:75-80 when God says, Indeed I swear by the places of the Stars - And truly that is surely a tremendous oath if you but knew - that this is indeed a noble Qur'an, in a book kept hidden, which none touch except the purified, a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

The Holy Qur'an is one of the earliest surviving documents in Arabic. The language of the Holy Qur'an is of outstanding beauty and is considered to be the direct utterance of Allah. It teaches that there is only one God, that God is above all comprehension and that, in relation to God, the right path is total submission (Islam) to the will of the Creator. It avers that there is a day of judgment for all, when the righteous shall be rewarded and the unjust punished.
