Quebec has a lot of natural resources that are used to create jobs. Quebec ... has many companies that create products for information and communication technologies, aerospace, biotechnology, and health industries. It has also developed close relations with the Northeastern United States.
The northern regions of Quebec have an arctic climate (Koppen ET), with very cold winters and short, much cooler summers. The primary influences in this region are the Arctic Ocean currents (such as the Labrador Current) and continental air masses from the High Arctic.
Quebec's earliest population included Native Americans, as well as settlers from France and England. This probably explains why "les quebecois" are so warm and welcoming. The name "Quebec", from "Kebec" in the Algonquin (Native American) language means: "Where the river narrows".

When the American army came to Quebec they found many sympathetic supporters. According to Baby, Tachereau and Williams, as many as 747 people in Quebec took up active service with the Americans, most notably Clément Gosselin of the 2nd Canadian Regiment.
AKRON, Ohio, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NYSE: GT) today announced its plan to discontinue tire production at its facility in Valleyfield, Quebec. The company expects to be substantially complete with a transition of the Valleyfield facility to a materials mixing center by the end of the second quarter of 2007. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050204/GTLOGO ) There are approximately 1,000 hourly and salaried associates at the facility. The mixing center is expected to employ approximately 200 associates. The reduction in both capacity and labor in Valleyfield is related to the company's ongoing global strategy to reduce excess high cost manufacturing capacity. "In today's intensely competitive and increasingly global business environment, we face some very difficult choices," said Jon Rich, president of Goodyear's North American Tire business.
