In a world where violence and conflict is ever-present, Quakers are called on to live in a way that promotes peace and non-violent ways to resolve disputes, whether between individuals, groups or nations. The Quaker commitment to peace and alternatives to violence is widely recognised. Quaker witness contributed to the recognition of the right to conscientious objection in time of war; Quakers ... have a long history of involvement in relief and reconstruction in war-torn areas. The peace testimony also means living in a way that fosters understanding and harmony in the community.

Testimony of Peace - This is the testimony that Quakers are most known for. It stems from their belief in human equality and their conviction that love is at the heart of existence. Quakers live this testimony by being actively involved in peace activism.

The Quakers have a rich winning tradition in the Ivy League and nobody can take that away from them. They will once again be expected to make it to the top of their conference, and fans hope they will represent the Ivy League well in the NCAA Tournament- provided they accomplish enough in the regular season to get there. Be with the Quakers along the way as they go for another Ivy League Championship.

From the start, Quakers have felt strong concerns to improve social conditions and the environment. Help for slaves, prisoners, mental patients, refugees, old people, war casualties - quite a few charities and campaigns for reform have started as the concern of a Quaker.

In 1682 William Penn and his fellow Quakers came to the New World. They named their new colony Pennsylvania. This meant Penn's woods. Penn opened his land to Quakers from all over the world. Thousands came from Germany, Scotland, Ireland, and England.

Consequently, the Quakers rejected hierarchy and have no apostolic succession; ... were rejected the Sacraments including Baptism and Communion. At their meetings, after reading Holy Scripture, they designate a so called, "constructive silence," that is, silence and concentration while each is waiting for the infusion of the Holy Ghost. If anyone feels "enlightened" by the Holy Ghost, regardless of social standing, — he/she starts to teach and prophesy. The congregation takes those words as revelation from above which they have to use as a guide in faith and life.
