Primary and secondary school education in Qatar is currently in a state of flux. There are currently two bodies controlling education in Qatar: The Ministry of Education and The Supreme Education Council. The Supreme Education Council is slowly taking over from the Ministry of Education, and is currently establishing privately managed Independent schools.

The people of Qatar are friendly and make visitors feel very welcome. Arabic is the official language, although English is widely used. Qatar is an Islamic state, which guides not only the religious beliefs of Qataris but ... plays a large part in daily living.

Services include maintaining war reserve materiel (WRM) stored in the Sultanate of Oman, State of Bahrain, and State of Qatar. In Oman, contract performance is on Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) government installations, and all access to the installations is controlled by the RAFO Security. In Bahrain, performance is in an area controlled by US Navy and Bahrain Port Authority. In Qatar, the Host Nation controls access to the work site.

The United Kingdom recognized Sheikh Abdullah at-Thani as Ruler of Qatar, and in 1916 made a treaty with him, providing British protection against aggression in return for supervision of Qatar´s external affairs. A 1934 treaty extended fuller British protection to Qatar.

AES Corp., a global power company based in Arlington, has been awarded the Ras Laffan cogeneration power and water desalination project in the state of Qatar that will produce 750-megawatts and 40-million imperial gallons of water per day. AES will own a 55 percent equity interest in the business and assume operating responsibility.
