The main types of Public Transport are buses, trams and trains. Trams have been around for a very long time and they used to be pulled by horses. They were first used in the late 1860's. Now trams are electric and run on a line of cable. Buses are like big cars and they drive on the road. Trains run on a track and are very fast.

The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure, Public Transport Division has a Mobility Pass available to people who are unable to validate a ticket using on-board equipment due to physical or cognitive impairment. A cognitive impairment can incorporate intellectual disability, dementia, acquired brain injury or other disability. A valid Mobility Pass must have the appropriate validating sticker affixed to the relevant month. The current cost for a validating sticker is $50.40.

The first forms of public transport were ferries (big public boats), and animals, such as horses.Horses ... pulled carts. The Gauteng Department of Public Transport, Roads and Works' Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) started the year with the delivery of a new learning centre in Midvaal. The Sicelo Early Learning Centre, with a cost R 2.5 million, was officially opened on the 11th January 2008.
