The active ingredient in Depo-Provera is medroxyprogesterone acetate. Each dose (1 millilitre) of Depo-Provera contains 150 mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate. Depo-Provera ... contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate, macrogol, polysorbate 80, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium chloride and water. Hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide may also be added when the product is being made to adjust the acidity or alkalinity of the product to the correct level.

Depo Provera ... makes it harder for sperm to enter or survive in the uterus. Sperm have more difficulty entering and survinging the uterus because Depo Provera causes the cervical mucus to thicken and changes the uterine lining
