Propecia: Studies
built 790 days ago
Questions about the potential for Propecia® to be associated with development or progression of prostate cancer have been addressed in a study reported in 2003. See Finasteride and Prostate Cancer for more information.

In clinical studies, side effects associated with Propecia were uncommon and did not affect most men. Less than 2 percent experienced sexual side effects (which may be attributable to the placebo effect). Side effects were resolved in all cases by discontinuing Propecia.

For the study, D’Amico and colleagues looked as 355 men between the ages of 40 and 60, 247 of whom were given a low dose of Propecia for 48 weeks. The men’s PSA levels were measured before the start of the study and once every 12 weeks.
