Prometheus: Ship
built 613 days ago
"Prometheus" was originally the code name for the experimental X-303, which was developed and constructed in Nevada by Area 51 R&D, with a great deal of work subcontracted to civilian companies without revealing the true nature of the project. The X-303 was hijacked while still incomplete by rogue NID agents demanding the release of Colonel Frank Simmons and the Goa'uld infested Adrian Conrad. SG-1 managed to reclaim control of the ship, and were promptly enlisted by the Asgard to help them trap the Replicators within a time dilation field. (SG1: "Prometheus", "Unnatural Selection") The Asgard later outfitted the ship with advanced shields and weapons as a show of gratitude.
Dispite Zeus’ warning, Prometheus took pity on the primitive mortals and again, he deceived Zeus. Prometheus gave the mortals all sorts of gifts: brickwork, woodworking, telling the seasons by the stars, numbers, the alphabet (for remembering things), yoked oxen, carriages, saddles, ships and sails. He ... gave other gifts: healing drugs, seercraft, signs in the sky, the mining of precious metals, animal sacrifice and all art.

Late in 2004, the Prometheus finally received a working intergalactic hyperdrive, courtesy of the Asgard. General Hammond then took the ship on a mission to check on the Atlantis Expedition, which had departed earlier that year and not been heard from since. The ship never made it out of the Milky Way... as it was hijacked by Vala Mal Doran who attempted to trade it for a supply of refined naquadah. The deal fell through and the ship was recovered, but not before sustaining too much damage to continue with the mission.
A unique feature included in the Prometheus design was "multi-vector assault mode", which allowed the ship to split into three semi-independent sections that could each deliver massive force against an enemy target. All three sections were warp-capable. Combined with the extensive automation, the Prometheus could be run by as few as four people.
